Me Too
THE BRIEF
Having worked with Haley & Michaels on previous lyric videos, our team was thrilled when they approached us for concepts for a lyric video for their newest single, “Me Too.” One of the treatments presented resonated with the duo so much that they decided to turn it into the official music video, and although the “lyric” side of the video would be toned down considerably, they’d still need support adding key words and phrases to a few selected scenes of the music video.
Post production
After the video was shot, edited, and color corrected, Haley & Michaels asked that certain scenes have typography added to them for extra impact. The phrase “me too” and “you are not alone” was added to both the palm of subjects, and the background behind others. Using a combination of motion tracking, frame-by-frame masking, and distortion effects gave the text a “real world” feel, even though it was added entirely digitally.
The goal for the video was to be a timely, elegant, and respectful anthem for the #MeToo Movement. The key marker of the video’s achievement of those goals was the inclusion of Tarana Burke, the founder of the #MeToo Movement, in the music video.
